THE WOMAN BEHIND OMAMA
A little about me.
Hello, I'm Eva — a midwife, yoga teacher, pregnancy and birth educator, and mother based in Suffolk, UK.
My journey began with a fascination for the female body and the incredible process of pregnancy and birth. The more I learned, the more passionate I became about supporting women to understand their bodies, trust themselves and feel empowered in their own experiences.
That passion has taken me through midwifery, yoga and motherhood, and ultimately led me to create OMAMA.
IT BEGAN WITH BELIEF IN WOMEN
When I first began learning about pregnancy and physiological birth, I was amazed by the wisdom of the female body and felt called to support women through this extraordinary experience. But as I began my formal midwifery training, I discovered a real contrast between what I had been learning and the way maternity care was often delivered within the medical system. Although I questioned whether I belonged within it, I chose to continue, believing I could still make a meaningful difference to women's experiences.
During my training, I explored what women need from antenatal care to have a positive experience, a subject that became the focus of my dissertation. At the heart of my work was a simple belief: knowledge is power. Over time, I also came to recognise that knowledge extends beyond clinical information. Traditional approaches to care, different cultural perspectives and a woman's own intuition all have something valuable to offer, shaping the holistic, women-centred approach I carry into my work today.
After qualifying in 2020, I worked across NHS maternity services, including labour wards, midwife-led units, community midwifery, homebirths and antenatal and postnatal wards. Throughout those years, I remained committed to informed choice, individualised care and advocating for the women I supported. Alongside my midwifery work, I also trained as a yoga and pregnancy yoga teacher, completing my training in 2023 and deepening my appreciation for the connection between body, mind and emotional wellbeing.
A PERSONAL TURNING POINT
Then I became a mother myself.
Alongside my work as a midwife, I trained as a yoga teacher and pregnancy yoga teacher, completing my training in 2023. I wanted to offer women something beyond what I could provide within my NHS role — a space to connect with their bodies, move, breathe and prepare in a different way. But it was becoming a mother myself that changed my understanding most deeply.
Despite my years of experience and everything I knew about pregnancy, birth and postpartum, I found my own transition into motherhood incredibly challenging. I had to learn how to piece myself back together.
Yoga became an anchor during that time. It helped me reconnect with my body in a way I hadn't experienced before. Discovering nervous system practices gave me another way to support my emotional wellbeing and find steadiness through the changes I was experiencing. I began to see even more clearly how much women need to be supported through the transition into motherhood — not just physically, but emotionally and as individuals.
When I tried to return to the NHS after having my son, I realised I could no longer work within a system that felt so different from the care I wanted to offer. I made the decision to leave and create something new.
THE HEART OF OMAMA
Becoming a mother is the journey.
I created OMAMA because I believe pregnancy, birth and postpartum are not separate experiences, but connected parts of a much bigger journey — the journey of becoming a mother.
Each stage shapes the next, and each deserves care, understanding and support.
I wanted to create a space that brings together everything I've learned through midwifery, yoga, nervous system work and my own experience of motherhood.
A space where women can gain knowledge, but also learn to trust their own inner wisdom.
Where movement and meditation offer opportunities to reconnect with the body.
And where women feel supported to find their own way, rather than being told there is only one right way.
That is the heart of OMAMA.
